Khan Lab School (KLS) is an independent TK–12 laboratory school in Mountain View, California, founded by educator Sal Khan and associated with Khan Academy.
I refreshed the visual identity to elevate the brand and strengthen its presence alongside leading independent schools in Silicon Valley. The work included a redesign of the logomark, development of a photography style, and the creation of marketing collateral ranging from admissions materials to physical signage across campus.
The updated logomark builds on the school’s legacy leaf motif while introducing a more modern and energetic expression and improved readability. In collaboration with the Head of Marketing, we defined three core pillars of the KLS learning model: the individual learner, peer-to-peer learning, and community.
Each leaf represents an individual learner. Their overlapping forms convey peer-to-peer collaboration, and together they form the school’s mark, internally referred to as the Community Star, symbolizing the collective learning environment at KLS.
